Where is Grub?
Many of you will know about the Ruby and Grub books (well, I hope so… I’d like to think you do), written by yours truly and illustrated by Sarah Warburton, some of whose work you can see here, and published by Piccadilly Press (@PiccadillyPress on Twitter) The series of three books, aimed at 2-6yrs, comprises: Ruby and Grub, Grub in Love, and Grub’s Pups (available here.) Some good news I’ve received this week is that Grub in Love will have a co-edition in Slovenian (Hooray!) which will extend Grub’s reach a little further. They already have Grub’s Pups over there, so it’s fab that they now want Grub in Love too! Grub is ecstatic, and I am chuffed to bits!
To celebrate this event, and inspired by fellow Twitter and Facebook friend Anna-Lena Olsson (@hoddydoddystuff on Twitter), Grub is going ‘out and about’ or, if you live further ‘up north’… ‘oot and aboot.’
The plan is to put together a series of photos and pics of Grub, ‘oot and aboot’, and use this as a fun/educational activity for children on my website. Sarah Warburton has very kindly given permission for us to use her wonderful Grub illustrations, and Anna-Lena is using just some of her vast array of skills to produce the pictures which will be used on my website. Here are a couple for starters. Derbyshire folk may recognise these venues… although one is a rather surreal artistic interpretation (from Moi!) so may be a little more tricky! …
And at a less surreal destination…
And he and his pups also made a rather impromptu appearance at my book launch…
As you can see, Grub is rather partial to his little day trips (as am I.) But we’d quite like to see him go further afield… and this is where YOU can help!!!
If you have any amusing or interesting photos from around the globe and would like them to be part of my ‘Where is Grub?’ page, please contact me via the Contact Me tab on this website. I will get back to you, and you can then send any pics to me via email. It would help if the pics weren’t too obscure, as I am hoping teachers will use this page in schools with young children… but funny ones would be nice! Also, these need to be your own photos, not ones downloaded from Google, due to copyright laws.
So, if you’d like to get involved, please let me know and may the creative stuff begin!
